Co-operation with the Danish Animal Welfare Society

Animal welfare is the cornerstone of Friland’s existence. Ever since the company was established, we have cooperated with the Danish Animal Welfare Society on developing a code of practice that goes beyond current Danish legislation to ensure that the natural behaviour and needs of pigs and cattle are met in the best possible way. So that consumers can always have absolute confidence in our products, the Danish Animal Welfare Society acts as an independent control body accredited by DANAK*, and vouches for the welfare of animals in several of Friland’s concepts.

The organisation approves and regularly checks the herds that supply Free Range pork. The meat from this concept is labelled ‘Approved by the Danish Animal Welfare Society’.

*The Danish Accreditation Fund (DANAK) is Denmark’s national accreditation institute appointed by the Danish Safety Technology Authority under the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs.
