We care about how we conduct our business, and we are implementing due diligence processes to minimise the risk of negative impacts in our production and in our value chain. We are committed to act responsibly and comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations as well as recognised international standards and treaties.

Responsible business conduct into policies

We are committed to follow international standards and frameworks. That is why our commitment to the UN Global Compact, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, OECD Guidelines, and the ILO core conventions are all integrated into our Code of Conduct, ESG Policy, Supplier Code of Conduct and Codes of Practice for livestock suppliers.

Identifying and assessing our risks

Since 2020, our due diligence processes include the use of the Sedex data platform and tools to identify current and potential risks on human and labour rights including our impact on the health and safety of our workforce. We regularly conduct self-assessments at our production facilities and share the results with our customers.

While Sedex mainly assess our performance within social issues, our commitment to EcoVadis also covers environmental performance and souring practices. The EcoVadis assessment is done at a group level and is renewed yearly.

We also assess our general sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities on a group level as part of our Double Materiality Assessment, and ESG risks are also integrated into our enterprise risk management process. You can read more about both in our Annual Report

Human and labour rights impact assessment

Both Sedex and EcoVadis enable us to identify actual and potential negative risks on human and labour rights and to prevent or mitigate any adverse impact that is directly linked to our operations or business activities.

Going forward we will continue our efforts to ensure compliance with human and labour rights legislation by translating requirements into actions, developing systems and driving continuous improvements. Among others, we will establish thorough due diligence processes.

International benchmarks as tool for tracking progress

As a global food company, we are part of the SDG2000 company list, as we are seen to be among the 2.000 companies with the largest potential to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, we are often included in national and international sustainability benchmarks. Not only do we strive to show continuous improvements in those benchmarks, but they also give us valuable insights into how our business conduct measures up to stakeholder expectations.
